Fund Raiser
Carol had an excellent idea. What if some of the kids and volunteers assist the kitchen staff in hosting a dinner. Proceeds could benefit the JOs and we could auction off some of the key donations that Carol has secured that would be more appropriate to local people.
Auctions can raise good $ but they need planning. There is an effort by the Davis Creek YC to do a coop auction with the RHYC. If we do the auction it should be our own. I spoke to Ann Sirna who has run several very successful auctions. She will write up something for us to get started and agreed to help as a consultant. I think she will get drawn into the effort willingly. Her example for a cool item that will draw people in is a boat trip to Annapolis for four with a gourmet lunch and a bottle of wine --$250 to $300 (all donated by the boat owner). Or a dinner for two at ---X --- restaurant. We should be able to assemble a bunch of things like that, She cautioned against accepting stuff no one wants. This will need a new group to do it. Maybe we could convince Ann to head the committee and let everyone else do what they are already over commited for.
The purpose of this blog: RHYC JO Committee Communication & Planning. The blog is open only to invited RHYC Committee Members. To have someone added, please contact Connie at rhycss@comcast.net
How about if we wait until it gets a little warmer and more people are are around the club?
ReplyDeleteSounds Good - late April, early May!
