The preliminary budget for the JOs is posted on-line so that we all have access. As we learn more details for the various expenses, please place a note in this blog prior to updating on-line.

  1. Actually, I'm re-thinking this. Please place notes under budget as you learn further details on cost of items. Connie, Chuck, or I should be the ones to approve and update the "official budget". We need a method of keeping track of our budget as things change. Let me know if that sounds like a plan. Sorry for any confusion... I'll grab some more caffeine.

  5. One part of the budget will need to be my favorite subject: FOOD. Actually, this should probably be a separate thread, but it doesn't appear I have the rights to do that.

I came up with an idea today after stopping at Jake's burgers in New Castle. Apparently they have a "mobile Jakes" that can be hired out for "corporate events." It looks like the approximate size of an elementary school Bookmobile, and serves their famous burgers, fries and shakes. Don't know anything about their business arrangement or pricing, but this might fit into the program somewhere. If whoever is in charge of feeding the masses is interested, their ad says to call Bill Cushwa at 302-981-6769.

  7. As the junior Olympics is supported by US Sailing,we get a break on the fee for using Regatta Network. Our fee will be 4.5% not 7%.

  8. Per Wanda, US Sailing is willing to give us medals ten deep per class.
Engraving is outrageous. I have found a low cost alternative that I'll bring to the meeting on Sat. to get feedback. I'd like to put some money aside for participation awards- I am still researching this.

  9. I noticed 100 volunteer awards on the budget. I suggest rather than plaques, we give out some of our merchandise- Tshirts, etc.

  10. At last year's JOs, all of the volunteers had a unique shirt that was bright colored. It enabled participants to easily locate a volunteer for when assistance was required. I think it would be a great idea to implement for our event.

  11. Per Regatta Network, they charge 6% for JO events. They do offer a storefront (web-based) where we can make 7% of sales back from online merchandise sales. So that helps offset the Regatta Network cost.

  12. Acouple of items that seem to be grouped under this heading-------Spacial shirts for RHYC volunteers is probably a good idea as the hats used by IHYC are mainly used as rewards for coaches in hopes of getting them to come back and bring their sailors.
The deal with Josh is to share the fees from the clinic for radials and 420s for which we will charge $30. We are planning to have a cut off at ten each for these two clinics. We could supply at least half of this from RHYC kids alone.
