Inverters

DC to AC Power inverters will allow us to ensure laptops stay charged while out on the Race Committee/Finish Boats. If we can have race results entered on the water, we can faster, more efficient results and awards ceremony following racing on Sat and Sun of the JOs.

A heavy duty inverter can power a laptop, here are a few:
1100 watts continuous power, 2200 watts peak power, Provides 9.2 Amps, $129

  1. As I said in my email I can get these at West Marine with my Port Supply card for about 30% off. I will check that price against the ones listed here.
To do this we can get a loan from the Sailing School to be reimbursed when $ starts to come in from donations and registrations.

  2. Reco we purchase 1 inverter now and test to ensure equipment compatibility. Chuck - will you purchase?
I will be glad to test, since I'll be one of the scorers that needs that equipment.

  3. I picked up an inverter today. The package states that laptop computer needs 40 to 125 watts. the unit I got has an output of 700 Watts. The next level of 1,000 to 1,200 Wats would be $250 to $400. I paid $59.00 so we can try it out and see how it works.
The output of the inverter is a modified sinewave
Will that be a problem with a laptop?
